who we are

With a custom-made photo button pinned to your shirt, you can show everyone exactly why you're out there walking, running or riding. We think you'll find the connection to that person you're honoring and working hard for is even stronger. And that makes being involved a more rewarding experience.

Our Mission

Our company policy: Optimism.

cure apathy

Our Mission: Spread inspiration one button at a time.

We hope that by wearing a button with a picture of your friend or loved one, you'll experience an even stronger sense of honor and pride when you participate in a fundraising event. The more that you (and, with luck, a whole bunch of other people) enjoy getting involved, the greater the impact for charities and the closer we'll all be to making a difference in people's lives and to finding some important cures!

At Buttons of Hope, we want to help you tell your story ... to make your
message stick!

Who is Michael Gibbons, and what inspires him?

Michael GibbonsMichael Gibbons is a regular guy with a big heart and a passionate drive to make a difference - a BIG difference - in the world! The creative force behind Buttons of Hope, Michael envisions a simple way to change profoundly the face of fundraising by, literally, "putting a face on it". He talks about inventing the word makehope, "I came up with the word makehope to describe the idea of hope as an active, inspiring word. Makehope means that people have a say in the way they handle disease or physical challenges or in how they support a friend or loved one. We may not control our circumstance, but we can all makehope."

How did Buttons of Hope start?

Inspired by the 24 Hours of Booty bike ride to benefit cancer, Michael decided to dedicate his time and efforts to helping his cousin Dale Lewis who was battling cancer. Looking for inspiration, Michael hesitantly asked Dale if it would be OK to make a photo button of Dale for the ride. When Dale answered that he would be honored, Michael was caught a little off guard. It was a uniquely inspiring and poignant conversation that, if not for Dale's "button", may never have taken place. At that moment, Buttons of Hope was born!

How is this going to change the world?

Michael's notion of offering individual photo buttons to help people honor and support loved ones and friends is spreading fast and has already made a big impact for people participating in events like M.A.D.D.'s Strides for Change, the ms150 Bike Tour and local Habitat for Humanity projects.

Because he believes that Buttons of Hope can help energize, motivate and inspire people, Michael hopes that charities will endorse the idea as a way for people to feel more connected and lead to a more meaningful experience at events. As Michael says, "It's not just about the button. It's about the story the button tells and the energy and inspiration it brings for the person who wears it!"
